Wychwood Festival

Self-Shooting Editor

Wychwood Festival is a family orientated festival held annually at Cheltenham Racecourse. Each year Tone Radio provides a team of students to staff the festival radio Wychwood FM.

In my first year helping at the event I set out to capture a small amount of footage in a bit of a home video style that could be used by the team remember the event, but also be used on social media to show what we got up to. However one thing led to another and with about 5 minutes notice I found myself filming Mr Tumble and going on to produce a mini-series of short films documenting each day.

Over the next two years I progressively improved and increased the visual output from the event switching format to a package of shorter more social media friendly videos, experimenting with 360 video and introducing more produced content including a tribute to Dick and Dom, who were performing at the 2018 festival, in the form of a game of Bogies! which received a rave review from them when released on social media.

“Good work lads!”

Glos-Tone-Beret

Self-Shooting Editor

GTB Extra was a online series I produced single handedly for two consecutive years. It provided coverage of Tone Radio’s annual french themed fundraiser ‘Glos-Tone-Beret’ also known by its abbreviated name ‘GTB’.

For both years I operated with a multi-camera setup across both stages of the event, each comprising of a fleet of GoPros capturing various angles, a roaming camera operated by myself and fixed wide shot. The wide shot cameras recorded constantly for the whole night and was also used to record the audio feed direct from the sound desk, produce timelapses and provided to any performers that wished to review and/ or share their gig.

For any stats fans out there in the case of the 2018 event I captured 543gb of footage which I spent 90 hours editing in the space of two weeks into 39 bespoke videos.

Thread Counts Makers Day

Self-Shooting Editor

Thread Counts Makers Day was an event held at Hardwick gallery bringing together creators and crafters to explore sustainable fashion and design.

I filmed and edited a series of different videos of the event including clips of the various talks and capturing a glimpse at some of the workshops that were on offer.

On Becoming Fluid

Self-Shooting Editor

On Becoming Fluid was an event held at Hardwick Gallery by Merike Estner and Keef Winter. It featured Merike’s signature ‘cocktails as paintings’ to be drunk and never seen again. Winter’s performance uses his sculptural apparatus to create a cacophony of noise acclaimed musicians Chris Cundy and Bobby Barry & Ian Mikyska who will be responding to the exhibition with improvised music sets.

Glastonbury Festival 2014

I worked as part of a team of students that made up the secondary camera crew on the John Peel Stage, supporting the main BBC crew. This included camera operation, including operating the on-stage roaming camera for ‘The Hoosiers’, cable bashing, vision engineering, vision mixing and directing the camera team for Darlia’s set; ensuring multiple angles were covered for the climactic guitar smash I had been tipped off about.

We also assisted with the setup and striking of AV equipment including the big screens at the sides of the stage and the giant video wall for MGMT’s set.
